This Visual Building tutorial demonstrates step by step a method to create 2D and 3D floor plans.

This tutorial is specifically for estate agents, but is also useful for all other users that need to create plans from a set of measurements.

The measurements in this tutorial are on a rough image, which can be scanned (or received by email) and displayed on the screen with the project for convenience.

In this tutorial example we want to create an accurate floor plan and so have taken into account the internal wall dimensions.

We then use guide lines to prepare the layout of our wall positions, along which we can precisely snap both our internal and external walls.

In our example the external and internal walls are a different thickness, but this need not be. Also the wall colours used in the floor plan can be any colour , hatching or image.

The room labelling is then easily completed by clicking on the default room name and then editing using font colour and size options.

Door and Window placement is then easily achieved by dragging the door and windows from the catalogue onto the walls. The 2D symbols used for doors and windows can easily be changed. (although not demonstrated in this video).

Stairs were then draw in. The 2D symbols used for the stairs can easily be changed. (although not demonstrated in this video).

After completion of the 2D floor plan, the project can then be viewed as a 3D model with no additional work required, as the 3D floorplan model is automatically created from the 2D floorplan.

Part 2 demonstrates how to complete the labelling and show dimensioning options.
