Details

  • Image shows the 3D Converter PlugIn with loaded Sketchup 3D object

More 3D object import and export formats

(import with our 3D Converter PlugIn, PRO and Premium versions only):
• Sketchup (* .skp (up to version 2016)),
• Collada (* .dae),
• Autodesk FBX (* .fbx),
• StereoLithography (* .stl)
....

Import/Export 3D objects from outside source (e.g. Sketchup/3D warehouse)
With the new Visual Building 6 Import/Export options you can now access millions of 3D objects to use/add into your projects.

Using 3D Warehouse https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com you can now search for premade 3D objects to use within Visual Building 6. You will find generic objects as well as manufacturer specific models to use within Visual Building 6. *Internet connection will be needed to download third party content
  • Additional 2D Symbols in our catalogue

Additional 2D Symbols Added

We have now added over 380 new 2D to the Visual Building 6 catalogue including:

- Electrical installation Symbols
- Gas Symbols
- Water Symbols
- Health and safety Symbols
  • Additional Textures in our catalogue

Additional Textures Added

We have now added over 330 new textures from mtextur:

www.mtextur.com has provided us with more than 330 selected textures of different themes, which are automatically available to all users of a premium version.

In addition, you will find more than 10,000 other materials and textures at www.mtextur.com that you can use within your Visual Building project.
  • Roof-mounted solar plants

Roof mounted Solar Plants

With Visual Building 6 you can now insert roof-mounted solar panels into your 2D/3D Designs.
This new tool will allow you to plan all your solar panel specifications and requirements within minutes.
By simply selecting your desired solar panel module from the catalogue and placing it within your plan you have the functionality to set distances, rotate and copy/multiply.
Visual Building 6 will also approximately calculate the output of your solar panel and will display this information within the analysis dialog.
In addition to this new feature, you will receive a preliminary list of the materials used, based on default assumptions making placement of your projects a lot quicker.
These lists can be exported as a PDF, Excel, or RTF file and can be used as a basis for discussions with your solar installer. You will get a rough estimate of the costs, if you add up to date prices for fasteners and modules in the dialogue.
  • Flat roof mounted solar plants

Flat-roof solar plants (Premium versions only):

You can now simply place the entire solar plant in the defined area with two mouse clicks.
Using the mouse you can now determine the start point and directions of the solar modules.
You have the function to adjust the row spacing and to rotate the entire system.

You can manually place the alignment of the solar modules in rows as well as the establishment of a manual starting point allow a realistic planning.
  • 3D Grid Elements, example 1
  • 3D Grid Elements, example 2

3D Grid elements for facade claddings, etc.

3D grid elements are an extension of the plug-in surface planner and allow the automatic generation of 3D elements in rows and columns to create cladded surfaces.
With just a few mouse clicks, you can cover walls of your building facades with 3D surfaces.
We have deliberately kept this function generic and as the name reflects the tool is very is diverse in it’s use.
In addition to the pure design as 3D elements, you also receive parts lists of the laying areas.
Components of the parts lists are the individual 3D elements as well as the profiles, which are optionally generated for the rows and columns. Identical 3D elements are automatically combined.
You can export the parts lists as a PDF, Excel or RTF file and use this as the basis for obtaining offers or your own calculations (Premium versions only).
With a single mouse click, you get a 2D view for the whole area in which only the raster elements are displayed.
These so-called front views can be refined with dimensions or other 2D drawing elements and thus, e.g. As assembly drawings. (Premium versions only)
3D grid elements are suitable for all cases in which products and elements are distributed in a uniform distribution, i.e are to be generated in columns and rows, e.g. Floor panels, wooden panels, etc.
In just a few mouse clicks Visual Building will produce specific data and you will not have to look at whole surfaces, especially if there are still openings like windows and doors in the areas.
The 3D surfaces can be edited individually, but also column and row layouts and provided with different materials. Each element can be further subdivided as required and can manage sub-surfaces with different dimensions and materials.
Profiles can be created automatically between rows and columns. The profiles themselves are obtained from 2D drawings, as already with the sweep solids of the plug-in 3D constructions (Pro and Premium versions only).
  • Facade area calculation list with images

Further automatic area calculation and lists:

With regards to many customer requests we have now added further area calculations and output lists, e.g. for facades and roof surfaces.
You can export these calculations as PDF, Excel or RTF files.

In the case of façade surfaces (premium versions only) and roof surfaces, Visual Building 6 will produce an image within the output in addition to the available values so that you can also optically assign the respective area.
In addition, there is a first version of a simple window position list in the premium version
  • Mirror example, 2D Symbol and 3D object
  • Mirror tools

Mirroring 3D objects, 2D symbols, 3D constructions, ...:

Two new tools are now available for mirroring, which appear in the selection toolbar (when an architectural 2D Object/3D Object has been selected).
Objects can now be mirrored on any axis or at the center of the object.
There are two types of mirroring options available; simple mirroring and mirroring with copy.
When mirroring with copy, the output element is thus preserved and a new, mirrored variant is inserted

Other minor changes:
Navigation: Zooming on the cursor now takes place exclusively via the mouse wheel making navigating in your Visual Building projects a lot easier and smoother.
This changes the movement up / down on CTRL + SHIFT + mouse wheel. However, you can return to the previous behaviour via the General dialog.
Change the line representation for 2D symbols: You can now change the display of 2D symbols for the entire symbol in the properties dialog
Numeric editing of polygons: Using the context menu, you can activate numeric postprocessing for certain elements, e.g. For 2D polygons, surface planer elements
Editing polygons in 3D: You can now edit for example, surface planer elements in 3D
