Does this happen with all projects, including an example or tutorial project?

I suspect the graphic card...
From the Help tab on the Ribbon bar, select Test graphic hardware from the Diagnosis group. Run the test and then copy and paste the test results and email to us.

If I save a 3d view as a picture (using "As view" and no Raytrace options) I just get a blank (black) jpeg.
If I tick the Raytrace option, I do get a valid jpeg but with shading as per settings. I just want a plain picture. Any clues as to what I am doing wrong - or if there is a workaround.
