We received this note from Microsoft today advising us of the fate of Windows XP. We know that many of our users still use XP, but may not be aware of its support status from Microsoft:
Dear Visual Building, Thank you for being a Microsoft partner. We appreciate your business. The purpose of this email is make sure you are aware of a Windows XP end of support communications coming from Microsoft that may impact your customers. I want to make sure you have time to strategically decide your next steps and to inform your customers of these upcoming notices, as appropriate. In September of 2007 we communicated Microsoft's plans to end support for Windows XP SP3 and how that may affect their business. Microsoft recognizes how integral Windows XP has been in our customers' operations and valuable to their employees, thus we have provided support for these past 12 years. The time has come for us, however, to invest our resources toward supporting more recent technologies such that we can continue to deliver great new experiences for our customers, as their IT environment evolves to meet the changing needs of their users in this increasingly social and mobile world. After April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, nor will automatic updates be sent that have helped protect their organization's PCs (including home users). |
