Your hardware, operating system or your applications are not perfect!
As with any other program that creates data files (such as a word processor or spreadsheet) you should make backups of your projects. We suggest you save myproject001.cyp as myproject002.cyp and myproject001.cyp. If you lose power or you make a mistake you can always reload the last version of your project saved. The more you save- the less you will lose! And of course there is always the possibility of a corrupt project file, so the more backup copies you have the better. Do not rely on a single backup file (.bak) as its possible that this may become corrupt while saving. Always create a set of backups, which is useful for going back to a known project state. Do not keep all your backups on a single hard drive- also save them to CD/DVD. It is also essential to maintain off-site backups to avoid catastrophic events such as fire, flood, theft, hardware failure or just simple human error. |
