Remember that there are several different ways to draw a floor plan, depending upon if you need speed, accuracy, presentation style or intended use.
1. For speed, you can use the Project Wizard to very quickly construct a building outline and then add interior walls, doors and windows. 2. For speed you can also use the grid to snap to get a rough outline of a building, and then stretch the building to fit the required dimensions. 3. For accuracy use the guidelines to define the wall positions and then snap the walls to the guidelines (remember to use Ctrl + W). This method is demonstrated in this video . 4. You can also import a .bmp /jpg png image (from an old brochure) and use this as a template to draw your new floorplan over. 5. If you have Visual Building Professional and a DXF / DWG, you can import this file and very quickly get an accurate plan- providing the original was accurate. 6. Using dimensions lines is much faster than typing 9’ 3” x 5’ 2”. Better still if you have drawn an accurate plan, but if not, you can still use dimension lines and edit the numeric value. 7. Create a range of standard house plans, which you can easily adapt, rather than start each new project from scratch. |
