You will need to have a project open in which to import. If there is no project open it will be greyed out.

Also during import remember to set the scale factor in the Import Options (can be something like 0.0001) for a large scale drawing).

Do you know why I don't seem to be able to import DWG files. This area is greyed out for me in my file, import menu option.
